We have our favourite brands, and we love to buy from them or use their service because they have become successful in gaining our trust. But did you know about an interesting fact that some of your favourite multinational brands outsource their manufacturing? Let's look at some brands which you probably didn't realize that outsource their manufacturing.

1.Apple

A brand that gained value drastically after the launch of its first iPhone in 2007, a brand that has made people stand in long queues, waiting to buy an iPhone or an Ipad or any other apple product.

Apple is America based multinational company that mostly deals in consumer electronics but also are known for their famous MAC OS on the computer systems and their very own IOS operating system for the iPhones.

While it is headquartered in California, USA and was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronal Wayne in April 1976, most of the human resource, research and development, and manufacturing is done at their own Apple park in the USA. Still, it is also known to be associated with a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturer called Foxconn.

Foxconn has been the chief manufacturer for Apple, many of the apple products like iPhone, iPad, Apple watches are manufactured at the Foxconn plant. They also have their own app store. In a recent event, Foxconn has announced that it will be manufacturing the iPhone in India and is planning to set up 12 new plants In India.

Apple is continuously being criticized because of this, but the company has been claiming that the USA lacks skilled workers.

2.Nike

Owning a pair of Nike shoes is always be a dream of any teenager. The company has developed trust in consumer too much so that some of its products, mostly shoes, go out of stock in no time.

Everyone loves not just teenagers but Nike; it offers a wide variety of products such as footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories, and services. Located in Beaverton, Oregon Nike managed to get on the top leaving all the competitors behind, Nike is currently sitting on revenue of about 30 billion US dollars and is the chief supplier of all athletic footwear and other accessories.

This 56-year-old company has over 45000 employees worldwide and functions and provides service in many countries, while the brand actually originated in the USA. But the production is not just limited to the USA, China has the most number of shares invested in Nike than any other country, but it also has manufacturing plants in South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and even India.

3. Walmart

A brand that upgraded the term supermarket to hypermarket, Walmart a vast gallery of discounted retail stores and grocery located in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Walmart was started by Sam Walton in 1962 as a small retail business. It has now spread its wings in many different countries. Resulting in revenue of a whopping 524 billion as of 2020 with an employee capacity of over 3 million.

Walmart has achieved new heights; many people know Walmart because of the value deals that they provide to attract customers. Now one might be stuck on the fact that Walmart being founded in the USA operates in the USA, well this is not 100% true.

China has more than 10000 manufacturing plants of Walmart, and the majority of products and goods are developed through these plants.

4.IBM

Another emerging brand that deals with consumer electronics and technology, IBM is in this list, operating in Armonk, Newyork.

IBM has a good reputation worldwide and is trusted and used by many. The roots of IBM go through over 170 countries, and it has been successful in maintaining the same reputation worldwide thanks to its innovative business methods and a hard-working team behind that innovation.

This has led the brand to earn a revenue of about 7714 crores USD. A misconception about the brand has always been in the mind of people is that IBM operates and performs everything from the USA.

However, this is not valid information on the number of employees working in India for IBM is far more than that of employees working in the USA.

China is one such Destination for IBM where it has employed a large workforce and also has directed its production, manufacturing, and R&D to China and other such countries hence resulting in a cost cut for customers.

Conclusion

These are some of the common brands which we were all known already, but did not probably have this information about them. Well, to conclude, most of the brand outsourcing their manufacturing is the effect of the non-availability of skilled workers and a company's way to keep the costing as low as possible to benefit the consumer more.
